Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine has won eight international engine awards for its versatility and consistency, this time it has become the best engine of the year for consecutive fourth time.

 

EcoBoost technology comes from turbocharged direct injection petrol engines. According to automotive journalists, it can be described as an affordable alternative to fuel efficiency and power outputs. It is evident that EcoBoost technologies enable an engine to deliver torque and power similar to the larger engine while reduces carbon emissions by 15% and achieve almost 20% better fuel efficiency, which makes it award winning engine globally.

 

The Ecoboost direct injection petrol engines were manufactured and developed by the Ford Motor Company and FEV engineering jointly. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call it ground-breaking engine technology. Ford is working to bring same technologies for hybrid and diesel engine for its future vehicles.

Ford is producing multiple ranges of powerful and fuel-efficient EcoBoost engines, globally it produces, 1.5-litre, 1.6-litre, 2.0-litre and 2.3-litre four-cylinder engines whereas Ford is planning to produce GT supercar with 2.7-litre and 3.5-litre V6 engines for Le Mans racing in 2016.

Dea Salvanic argued, Ford’s 1.0-litre EcoBoost is one of the shining examples of engine downsizing and it will revolutionize engine technologies of the future. It is to note that Dea Salvanic is co-chairman of the 17th International Engine of the year awards and editor of Engine Technology International magazine.

 

A small Ford 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engines has won the hearts and mind of drivers because of its excellent performance and outstanding fuel efficiency. A panel of 87 automotive journalists from 35 countries has named it “best engine” of its class in the light of following factors, i.e., performance, economy, driveability, technology and refinement.

 

It is important to mention that Ford has made ten models in Europe equipped with I.0-litre Ecoboost engine, one in five vehicles sold by Ford in 2014 contained 1.0-litre Ecoboost engine. Joe Bakaj (A vice president, product Development, Ford of Europe) has highlighted, Ford has won the game of small petrol engines with its revolutionary 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine and continue to do so in future. Ford, He said is producing revolutionary engine from generations and generations.
